I’m going to get shit done… just kidding! The universe told me to sit the fuck down and stop working so much.

Today I am fucking jet lagged. I just got back to LA after working in New Zealand for two weeks. This is not a post about that trip nor is a post to boast about how fucking amazing New Zealand is. This IS a post about the fact that the universe sometimes gives you what you need… and in my case it was the need to get a flat tire.

I confess I am a workaholic. I work pretty much all the time. I work late at night. I work early in the morning and I work on weekends. I even sometimes work when I am supposed to be on vacation.  It’s always been challenging for me to simply shut down, to stop and just enjoy life without the work.  Today was no exception. Yesterday I got back from New Zealand. I landed at LAX in the middle of the afternoon and as I waited to be picked up from the airport, I checked work email. It had been 12 hours of no Internet and of course I had to see what was happening with work… and so for the next hour I worked and worked and did more work. Then this morning I woke up and worked and worked and as I was about to get into my car to drive to work, a funny thing happened, I had a flat tire!

Now this is funny to me because I have been out of the country for two weeks and no one has driven my car. Of course it is very likely that something punctured my tire prior to me leaving and I did not notice it and then, I left. However, it struck me that perhaps I should not go to work today. Perhaps, instead, I should stay home and recover from a serious case of jet lag.

Sometimes life gives you what you need without realizing… today I needed a flat tire. Tomorrow, well tomorrow I need an appointment to fix said tire so I can get shit done!
